I’m like 75% not expecting a reply and 98% expecting them to essentially tell me to f*#% off but I mean it when I say that I’m going to fight until the end. So here’s why I emailed them.
In the past few weeks, I’ve had three women reach out to me as having dated/been abused by Mathew Berry within this past year and a half. One of them disclosed that she witnessed Mathew abuse his dog and would make his dog attack her, just like what he had done to me.
So I emailed the police and the prosecutor. Because the prosecutor had spent 45 minutes telling me exactly why she didn’t press charges against Mathew Berry, citing me not being a “credible witness” as the reason. She had told me that there was nobody to corroborate my story and that the defense would tear me apart with my testimony. She said the entire case relied on my testimony and she wasn’t going to do that because I was being abused, or wait as she called it, I wasn’t a credible witness.
She had told me that the previous victims of Mathew couldn’t be called because (at the time, the only ones I had known of) had been abused by him 5 years prior, and therefore couldn’t be used in court.
So I emailed her, and the police, asking them to/how to take the witness statements/testimonies of these women.
Because these women were abused by Mathew Berry within the past year and a half. That’s within the statute of limitations. My case is still within the statute of limitations. It’s 2 years. We have until June/July 2022 for any potential criminal charges to be filed. So I emailed them. Because don’t call me not a credible witness and turn down witnesses who will corroborate everything I said.
Again, I’m not expecting much. The system sucks and it breaks me. But I have 3 other victims who have had almost the exact same experience, witnessing Mathew Berry abusing his dog and have his dog attack these women. I’m not going to stop fighting for what is right, because it is right. And I will always fight for that.
