4 weeks & baby girl finally latched

Literally shed tears of relief. Today my baby girl finally latched for the first time without a nipple shield. You have no idea how huge this is. We have been working HARD for weeks to breastfeed her through the challenge of her tongue and lip ties. We’ve been feeding her every 3 hours, getting no more than 2 hours of sleep max at a time, for almost her entire life this month. If I’m not attached to her at the breast, I’m attached to the pump to help supplement. This has been incredibly a lot as we work towards getting her to latch without a nipple shield.

So to have it work, to have her latch to me directly, I literally cried. Like, this is amazing and we have put in so much work for this and her.

We’re still on this journey and I’m not saying she won’t still need the nipple shield sometimes, but holy smokes what an absolute milestone and accomplishment and joy.

I love this baby with my entire heart and soul and will do anything for her and her well-being, so to have this moment of success is everything.

YAY!!!!
